Sacramento
is home to many great singers and musicians in
several genres. From experienced vocalists and bands
to artists beginning their journey towards musical
greatness. Unfortunately, these artists haven't had
a stage to showcase their talents or in many cases,
simply have a place to prepare and learn. The Home
Grown Soul Show is the solution.
The Home Grown Soul Show is a unique
program that will use the web, radio and the stage
to showcase independent artists. Every Thursday
night, Sacramento is the place to come for live and
exciting performances by independent or “Home Grown”
singers. Musicians bring their instruments and jam
with the band, singers interact with each others and
on many occasions act as backup singers during each
others performances, and Sacramentins are
introduced to new talent in their own backyard.
The Home Grown Soul Show is the
artistic nerve center, keeping artists, musicians,
producers, musicians, label rep’s and fan
connected. There is also a weekly art show
featuring some of the areas most talented painters
and sculptors. Fans and artists can now have a
place to network and experience exciting cultural
experiences.

A native of the Bay
Area, Akil has resided in Sacramento since 2000. Akil is a
artist/producer that has owned several studios in Sacramento
and has worked with several artists. He has produced
several songs that have received radio play on 102.5, 103.5
and V101.1. Akil

is also currently #5 on
GarageBand.com all time Rap charts.
in 1997 Akil was a
Co-Producer with the hugely successful "Urban Grooves R&B
Showcase" at Geoffrey's Inner Circle where Latoya London was
a winner of the competition. After working for Clear Cannel
Radio Sacramento, Akil had an idea to create a showcase that
would high light talent in Sacramento. After 1 year at
Clear Channel the show was born.
Now The Home Grown
Soul Show (open mic) at the
RED LION HOTEL In Sacramento is one of the nations largest
R&B showcases and The Home Grown Soul Radio show on
V101 FM in Sacramento is
one of the only places for local talent to get air play.

Devin
Kyle a.k.a. Don Alias is the former Radio Personality and
Operations Manager for V101.1 FM Radio. Devin is also
the son of the late Don Alias, Sr. An accomplished
percussionist who toured with some the biggest bands in the
country. Devin has adopted his fathers love of
percussion instruments and has been featuring on the Home
Grown Soul Show Stage.
